The EMS Energy Institute Office of Student Development is pleased to announce the awarding of three undergraduate research grants to the following students:

 

        • Justin Weber (mechanical engineering, advisor: Bruce Miller): Bench-scale FBC Study on Oxygen-Enhances Combustion of Coals and Coal/Biomass Blends
        • Olakunle Orogbemi (EME, advisor: Dr. Zuleima Karpyn): Quantification of Wetting Characteristics of Porous Materials and Their Impact on Fluid Conductivity
        • Thomas Mora (EME, advisor: Dr. Zuleima Karpyn): Improve Hydraulic Fracture Conductivity by Wettability Alteration of Proppants

 

These students will receive $500 to cover materials, supplies and analytical costs to conduct their research. Applications for an EMS Energy Institute Undergraduate Research Grant are taken throughout the year. Application instructions:

The EI Undergraduate Research Grant is a $500 cash award to supplement undergraduate student research being conducted at the EMS Energy Institute. The application process includes the submission of a one page summary of the research project. The summary should include the project title, advisor, description of the project object and methodology and how the grant money will be utilized. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis. Recipients of an EI Undergraduate Research Grant are required to submit a 1-2 page summary report at the completion of their research project. Interested students should apply to the Office of Student Development, EMS Energy Institute.
